    Mike I have a question r specific to landing a medium-sized foam "sport jet" airframe. On final, should the jet remain in a flat attitude over the runway in a slow, controlled descent, using throttle management, until inches off the runway and bleeding off airspeed, then a small flare to have the mains touch first. Thanks, Ken

    Hmm, great tips but the usual “mistake” of RC pilots, landing too far down the runway. Seems many pilots touchdown at the point on the runway opposite to the point they are standing (usually halfway down the runway). This is often regardless of how short the runway is or the landing speed of their aircraft. Just my observations in general, clearly not a problem to someone possessing the skill set Michael has :)

    Great video. Having issues landing my Freewing Avanti V1. Get too slow and this plane will definitely stall. Land a bit hot, and if nose wheel touches down, the plane jumps up wanting to fly again and sometimes goes into a bouncing oscillation and eventually another potential stall. Have been flying edf's for years. Not sure why I'm having such a problem with this one. The plane flies great! For some reason I just can't land it well consistently?

She flies so controlled nothing twitchy also very slow and low :D My Futura 64 keeps stalling when I´m flying because I love to fly slow too hahaha But it is super training for reacting and saving her :D I´ll try out how long and slow I can to my rolls! I love that too but mainly with much altitude. Thank you as always for the great videos!

    Hello Michael, wow great Video! I understand everything although I have only bought the FW 70mm version V2 on march. Here my comments and experience: - landing approach to high, too much speed and she glides very much. Flew yesterday too long on the 2200mAh graphene pack and after the third landing approach I did an emergency landing. Totally stupid and the battery had after 3minutes (!!) still 3,75V. Now I have to repair some damages - I have also problems on gras. My maiden was on 2200mAh with around 350g: super! After with 4000 almost impossible to take off. Also on the evening on wet gras she sucks a lot and the cheater surface holes are almost full of gras - those mixes look great. By coincidence I programmed flaps+ele and spoilerons+ele. Because in the winter I was training a lot with my indoor/outdoor EPP Turbo Crack Beaver. But I haven´t tried the mix yet. Yesterday I was getting confidence but maybe next time - I have also configured flaperons for slowing her down and thats works better than nothing for this, my first approaches Thank you for this video! As always very good for learning!

      @@Zmarshall910 Pitch sensitive from rates and expo. I have continually test flown hundreds of Jets... I have a great video on how to land heavy aircraft and turbines. It was the gyro that made it go crazy on this last flight.... IT worked on the first two. When we switched the gyro off it leveled off and was flying fine. No sensitivity. The Flaps were not correct. That didn't help. I thought the gyro pulled loose... The CG was good on the final flight.

    • @Zmarshall910
      @Zmarshall910 Місяць тому

      @MichaelWargo cg was good but you planted it on landing even with the gyro off? Color me confused. You can land a turbinator without flaps. It's one thing to make mistakes. But making excuses just looks bad.

    Classic horizontal tail stab being blanketed during flaps down during final approach to flare (hor stab stall) .. remedy: less full flaps, add weight to nose. If it just won’t settle in, it’s either tail heavy, or a tail (horizontal) stab stall.

    Had a recent battery lesson too. Battery was charging fine, balancing out no problem. Did not have in flight battery telemetry. Same deal, pack lost power prematurely. I realized a good idea if I have a questionable pack now is I hook it up to EDF and then connect a decent battery checker to balance lead, one that reads and displays all individual cell voltages similtaneously. Then crank in full power and see what the cell voltages do. Mine had one cell that dropped way lower than the others even though the pack balanced out fine when charged.

    Once in awhile it seems we get an airplane that's tough to get tuned in That's a good idea to not use the gyro until you've got everything under control and some altitude. Sometimes gyros don't work properly or they're controlling the wrong surfaces and we never know why it crashed. Especially with jets! Thanks Michael! I never miss a video from you

    So much lead in the nose is a bummer.

    Stalled

      I’m sorry it did not stall. I was on the back-and-forth. if you notice I had control of the aircraft right to the ground if it starts to 90°, they just fall out of the sky. This kept flying with the wings rocking back-and-forth. of course, all this activity slow down quite a bit, which exacerbated everything When aircraft stalls, it does not land flat on the belly There’s no way to add throttle at that point, it was up and down at the same time so it was quite difficult to manage But I can assure you I didn’t flight it in too slow if you’ve watched any of my other videos on how to land a heavy aircraft you will see. I have made countless first flights with turbines, thousands of landings without incident and most of them near perfect One Or two times that it wasn’t I put it on to make sure everyone can see so we can learn.

    I believe in flying with a porpoise too, just concerned about the water and the blow hole

    Props to you and the person filming the plane! Perfectly done! You make it look so easy but I think I’d crash mine in the first few seconds lol
